What Services Does This RTO Office Offer?

Just like other RTOs, Koramangala's KA-01 office covers a wide range of vehicle-related services. Here's what you can get done here:

Vehicle Registration

Looking for a new vehicle? Personal or commercial, it has to be registered here. Once registered, you receive a Registration Certificate (RC), valid for 15 years for personal vehicles and 2 years for commercial vehicles. You will get a temporary registration for a month, and then permanent registration is necessary. If you have just bought from a dealer, it is first temporary for a month. The RTO also looks after transfer of ownership of second-hand vehicles and renewal of RCs after expiry.

Driving Licences

This office manages your entire licence journey — from the learner's licence you get after clearing the traffic rules test to your permanent licence after 30 days and a practical driving test. It also handles renewals, duplicate licences if yours is lost, licence upgrades to add new vehicle categories, and International Driving Permits for those planning to drive abroad.

Vehicle Permits

For commercial vehicle owners—taxi, bus, and truck—this RTO issues both temporary permits for short trips and national permits for interstate operations.

Road Tax Collection

Personal vehicle owners pay road tax once, at the time of registration. Commercial vehicle owners pay this annually, based on the vehicle's size and use.

Fitness Certificates

Commercial vehicles need to prove roadworthiness through a fitness certificate, issued after inspection.

PUC Certificates

Every vehicle needs a valid Pollution Under Control certificate to confirm it meets emission norms.

NOC (No Objection Certificate)

Moving your vehicle to another state or RTO jurisdiction? You'll need an NOC from this office first.

Hypothecation Services

If you bought your vehicle on loan, the RTO adds the financier's details to your RC and removes them once the loan is cleared.

Types of Driving Licenses Issued Here

  • Two-Wheeler Licence – Covers both geared and non-geared bikes and scooters.

  • LMV Licence – For private cars, SUVs, and light commercial vehicles.

Traffic Situation Around Koramangala

Being one of Bengaluru's busiest neighbourhoods, Koramangala sees its fair share of traffic snarls, especially during heavy rain. Waterlogging on central roads has, at times, caused significant delays during peak hours, with the effects rippling out toward routes connecting to the airport as well.

Road Safety Efforts in the Area

Karnataka's road safety authority has run mass media campaigns focused on the dangers of speeding, using real stories to highlight how a single reckless moment can change lives forever. These campaigns run across TV, radio, and newspapers, reflecting the state's ongoing push to bring down road accidents, since speeding remains one of the leading causes of crash injuries and deaths in Karnataka.
