RC full form and what it actually means
RC stands for Registration Certificate — the document proving a vehicle is legally registered in your name. Until the RC is transferred to the new owner, the seller stays legally responsible for that vehicle, including any traffic challans or accidents.
Form 29 vs Form 30 — what's the difference?
Form 29 is the seller's notice to the RTO, declaring the vehicle has been sold and handed over, along with the RC and insurance papers.
Form 30 is the joint application — signed by both buyer and seller — that actually requests the RTO to record the ownership change.
Both forms are mandatory under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and both need signatures from the transferor (seller) and transferee (buyer) to be valid.

RC transfer online, step by step
Log in to the Parivahan portal and select "Transfer of Ownership."
Enter the vehicle's registration and chassis number, and complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
Upload signed Form 29, Form 30, and supporting documents (insurance, PUC, ID proof).
Pay the applicable RTO fee online.
Visit your RTO for physical document verification, if required.
Track your application until the new RC is issued.
