When is it needed?

Addition of Hypothecation

When you purchase a vehicle using a loan and the financier’s details need to be added to the RC.

Termination of Hypothecation

When your vehicle loan is fully repaid and the lender’s name needs to be removed from the RC.

When hypothecation details are missing or incorrectly recorded in the RC.

Guidelines

Hypothecation must be added if the vehicle is under loan

Termination should be done immediately after loan closure

Bank or financier approval is mandatory

Vehicle must have a valid RC, insurance, and PUC
